The "people first" design favored by the city of Boston would not allow for cars on the planned North Avenue Bridge replacement.

Tim Logan provides an update on plans to replace the Northern Avenue Bridge over Fort Point Channel in Boston, and warn drivers to get use to not using the bridge.
"City officials working on replacing the long-closed bridge over Fort Point Channel appear to be moving toward designing a span that would prioritize walking and bicycling and prohibit single-occupancy cars. Indeed, conceptual images shared Tuesday with an advisory committee don’t show any vehicles," reports Logan.
Engineers from Boston Public Works are promising a "people first" design for the bridge, according to Logan, though many unfinished details of the project remain.
A separate article by Christian MilNeil provides additional coverage and commentary of the project's recent design reveal.
