The city of Galveston has more to do to live up to its own standards in accessing and protecting the gulf coast.

The Associated Press reports that a local committee has recommended that the city of Galveston improve beach access in the coastal community, along with other measures designed to protect the coastal environment.
The Beach Access and Dune Protection Plan Review Committee's recommendations include measures for improved dune protection and additional parking at beaches. The goal of the committee is to bring the city's practices into conformity with the city's won access plan while also ensuring protections from coastal erosion and other forms of environmental impact.
The committee made the recommendations in August after over a year of research and analysis.
