"Championing the decision as a necessary step to make the 'Big Apple' more tech-friendly, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday that the subway is just for Amazon employees now."
That's the lede of this satirical news article that is a complete and total fabrication intended for satirization of the week's big news about Amazon deciding to locate half of its HQ2 facility in the Long Island City neighborhood in the borough of Queens in the city of New York.
The article includes some pretty scathing, but completely made up, quotes from Mayor Bill de Blasio (who, in real life, is taking heat from the City Council for negotiating the deal to locate HQ2 in Long Island City without any input from the city's residents or other political leadership).
All this completely fabricated satire aside, sometimes truth is just as strange as fiction. Greg Bluestein reports that in its failed bid to attract HQ2, the city of Atlanta promised an Amazon-dedicated MARTA train to 'distribute products around the city.'
