Transportation officials and companies are still working out how to respond to the decision by Greyhound to discontinue its intercity routes in Western Canada.

"While some operators are downsizing their businesses when Greyhound terminates its Western Canada routes in October, others are seizing the opportunity to fill the service void," according to Jenny Peng.
"Fritz Keller, owner of Silver City Stagelines in Trail, B.C., has filed an application with the Passenger Transportation Board to add at least six round trips between Nelson and Kelowna, while eliminating three round trips between Trail and Castlegar," reports Peng.
The new routes planned by Silver City Stagelines are in keeping with the hopes of transportation officials in British Columbia when faced with the prospect of losing Greyhound's intercity bus service, according to Peng.
