The Tampa Bay Rays still play at Tropicana Field, but they won't forever. The redevelopment opportunity for the site will be a game changer for the city.

"A new name, a research and tech hub, a riverwalk and even Pinellas County's first convention center could all one day come to the 86-acres surrounding Tropicana Field [in St. Petersburg, Florida]," reports Caitlin Johnston.
Planners hope to also reconnect the site of the current home of the Tampa Bay Rays Major League Baseball team with the area's history as a neighborhood home to an African-American community.
New York-based HKS Architects is working on the master plan for the 86-acre site, despite the fact that the Tampa Bay Rays still play in the stadium.
A previous article by Johnston describes the location as the most valuable development opportunity in the area—and perhaps the region.
