The new funds add to the effort to replace aging infrastructure and lead pipes.

The Biden administration announced a new $5.8 billion round of funding from the bipartisan infrastructure law for water infrastructure projects, according to an Associated Press article.
Vice President Kamala Harris made the announcement this week in Pittsburgh, saying, “Every person should have a right and the ability to have access to clean water, and it should not matter where you live or how much money you earn or how much money you got in your back pocket.”
The funding will go toward replacing lead pipes, water mains, and storm drains, as well as upgrades to water treatment plants and distribution systems.
