City officials from Quebec's two biggest cities have reached an agreement to try to improve transit across the region.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante made a deal with Quebec Transport Minister Chantal Rouleau and Treasury Board President Christian Dubé to build the city’s new Pink Line train. The funding from Quebec would pay for the Western portion of the line that is to connect Lachine with Montreal du Nord. "In exchange, Montreal will hand over $800 million to Quebec City, to help pay for the provincial capital's proposed $3.3-billion tramway network," Julia Page and Kate McKenna report for the CBC.
The mayor's deal does not account for the eastern section of the planned train, that portion of the line is still being studied.
