Lime Bike hopes to provide a new option for transit and mobility share that would resemble an electric golf cart.
Lime Bike is making an electric enclosed vehicle that would drive in normal traffic. "Lime, a company that runs sharing services for scooters, pedal bikes and e-bikes, is developing a new type of vehicle known internally as a 'transit pod,'" Joshua Brustein reports for Bloomberg. These pods, which may end up having three or four wheels, would be about the size of a golf cart and park on the street with cars.
Lime is pitching the vehicles as smaller more efficient alternatives to normal private cars. "Customers would access the pods through a sharing service available in the company’s app, seeing them as another transportation option alongside scooters and electric and pedal bicycles," Brustein writes.
