Transit Planning & Communications Manager

The Public Transportation Department (PTD) in Anchorage is looking for an experienced Transit Planner to oversee planning, marketing, and rideshare programs.

What You’ll Do

• Lead long- and short-range transit planning efforts, ensuring efficient and effective service.
• Supervise Planning, Marketing, and RideShare divisions, including hiring, evaluation, and development of staff.
• Develop and implement an annual marketing plan, oversee media relations, and public outreach.
• Manage fixed-route bus scheduling to optimize service performance.
• Oversee the short-range transit plan, data collection, and public participation efforts.
• Coordinate with municipal departments, state and federal agencies, and the Anchorage Metropolitan Planning Organization.
• Manage division budgets and funding agreements, including grants and service contracts.
• Support the Public Transportation Advisory Board with research, presentations, and recommendations.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in transit planning, urban planning, transportation, or a related field.
• Strong leadership and management skills with experience supervising teams.
• Ability to analyze data, develop strategic plans, and optimize transit operations.
• Excellent communication and public engagement skills to foster community involvement.
• Familiarity with transit scheduling software and federal/state transit regulations is a plus.
