Detroit becomes one of the few cities offering adaptive bikes as an option in its bikeshare system's fleet.

"The Adaptive MoGo bike share progam [sic] launches [May 15]—a first for the city and one of the first in the country," reports Robin Runyan.
The adaptive bikes are part of a pilot program scheduled for testing through October, according to Runyan. The fleet of adaptive bikes includes three upright cargo tricycles, two recumbent bicycles, one in-line recumbent tandem, two hand tricycles, three two-wheeled tandems, one side-by-side recumbent tandem, and one front loading trailer.
The announcement of the new adaptive bicycle program coincides with the first anniversary of the MoGo bikesharing system in Detroit. For another example of a bikesharing system offering options for adaptive bikes, see the work of the Biketown system in Portland.
