The rapidly growing and urbanizing continent of Africa offers lessons in property tax.
The At Lincoln House blog has a post sharing news of a new book published by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. The book, Property Tax in Africa: Status, Challenges, and Prospects, provides the "first comprehensive study of the property tax in Africa."
The book "[analyzes] property tax systems in 29 countries and [offers] four regional overviews, highlighting the key political, administrative, and technical issues that affect how these systems function."
According to the post, the book comes at a critical time in the history of Africa: "The world’s fastest growing continent, Africa has added more than 500 million people since 1990, and by 2050 it will hold a quarter of the world’s population."
