Artists Cal and Skip Cullen opened Cincinnati gallery Wave Pool shortly after moving back to Ohio from California. The couple’s experiences in the Bay Area heavily influenced their thinking about the role culture could play in their new neighborhood. Deciding to foreground community, they've helped visiting artists develop relationships with other organizations throughout the city, from an urban farm to a correctional center.

Cal believes that Cincinnati is particularly receptive to organizations like hers at this point in history, when the area’s affordable real estate and historic architecture are attracting more people from places like San Francisco and New York.
