The overhaul of the U.S. energy grid is already well underway.
"Despite its ongoing fracking boom, the U.S. added more new wind capacity in 2015 than natural gas," reports Rob Wile.
The news comes via data released by the Energy Information Administration, which reported in a press release that it was the fourth time since 2006 that wind power had outpaced natural gas. "The U.S. added more than 8,000 megawatts of new wind capacity, compared with about 6,000 megawatts of new natgas capacity," according to Wile.
As for the regions leading the wind energy boom: "Texas added the most new wind capacity in 2015, followed by Oklahoma, Kansas, and Iowa."
