Camden, New Jersey, is not known for its skyscrapers, but that could change if the development of a site just south of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge is approved.
Jason Sayer reports on a proposal for two new skyscrapers on the waterfront in the city of Camden, New Jersey, across the Delaware River from Philadelphia and just south of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
The proposal includes the two towers, along with several smaller buildings, which will offer retail, office, and residential spaces as well as a hotel and park area.
Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, developer Liberty Property Trust "is backing the project with a $1 billion investment, the largest Camden has ever seen…" Liberty Property Trust is has also developed high-profile Philadelphia projects like the Comcast Center and the Navy Yard complex.
According to Sayer, "this project might be the long-awaited catalyst for economic growth that the neighborhood has yearned for after schemes such as the Adventure Aquarium and the $30 million Campbell’s Field baseball stadium failed to reinvigorate the area." The article includes a series of detailed, shiny renderings.
