A Land Trust To Build Parks

This article reports on a coalition of private and public organizations in Los Angeles that unveiled plans tocreate a nonprofit urban land trust to develop and oversee community parks.Currently, the city is one of the worst in the nation in terms ofaccessible open space. The organizers' vision includes a string of smallcity parks that will dot the urban core of Los Angeles, particularly thecity's poorest neighborhoods. A variety of proposed methods could be usedto acquire land, including conservation easements, property purchases andland donations.
