"The student researchers, who began their project in the spring semester, used sound-level meters to chronicle the noise levels inside trains on each of the CTA's seven rail lines...Noise levels recorded inside the trains exceeded 90 decibels, which the federal government considers potentially harmful even for limited exposure."
