Brad Schmidt provides an overview on the impacts of the changes proposed by Mayor Charlie Hayes for the city’s urban renewal areas. The mayor’s proposal would redirect property tax revenues to Portland schools and Multnomah County, while while also helping to fund redevelopment projects in in the South Waterfront district and the Central Eastside.
Schmidt’s articles breaks down the proposal into winners and losers. Among the winners: development along the new Milwaukie light rail line and the South Waterfront. Among the losers: affordable housing.
