It's Official: Drive-In Theaters Have Historic Value

Azusa Foothill Drive-In's designation as a California historical resource gives it a fighting chance against demolition.

The State Historical Resources Commission voted unanimously to designate the Azusa Foothill Drive-In Theater as a California historical resource. It's the last drive-in on Route 66 west of Oklahoma, as well as L.A. County's last remaining single-screen outdoor theater -- and Azusa Pacific University plans to tear it down.
