Ten states with the most people account for over half of the US population. And the nation grew by 3.4 million people.

California comprises 12% of the US population (34.5 million), and had the biggest population gain in the nation. Texas and New York were second and third. But Nevada, Arizona and Colorado are the fastest growing states, and the South had the largest population increase.
