Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced a plan to encourage development in the "Crosstown Corridor"
"The area, bisected by Melnea Cass Boulevard, has stymied developers and public officials for years despite efforts to build everything there from a convention center to a football stadium.Menino yesterday said he would seek to redirect $7 million in federal empowerment zone funds to revive a hotel and office project in the area and would encourage Boston University to fill prospective office space. He would also make available city-owned land for 200,000 square feet of new medical and research facilities."
