Housing Sales Strong As Consumer Confidence Drops

While the consumer confidence index dropped this month, housing sales continued to be strong.

"Consumer confidence unexpectedly slumped this month, but housing was a surprise bright spot in the economy in October, reports showed today... In housing, sales of existing homes surged a larger-than-expected 5.5 percent in October, to an annual pace of 5.17 million units from a 4.9 million rate in September, the National Association of Realtors said."
