Affordable Housing Incentives In Southern California

A coalition of developers and businesses is proposing ways to build affordable housing without assessments and fees.

Some affordable housing advocates suggest that developers pay fees and assessments to raise funds for low-income housing. Builders and local businesses are opposed and say that such fees raise housing costs. The coalition has urged tax credits, using funds from real estate transactions, state and federal assistance and direct grants and low-interest loans for builders of low income housing. Mayor Hahn recently increased the housing trust fund goal from $10 million to $100 million.
