Preventing Runoff With Rubber Dams

In an attempt to divert runoff and improve the quality of Orange County, CA beaches, a system including rubber dams will be used.

Urban runoff is the major cause of pollution at the nation's beaches. Los Angeles has been thought to be the worst in the nation. However, it has been noted that all 40 of Orange County beaches were closed last year because of runoff pollution. Proponents of beach cleanup maintain that the total solution includes better maintenance of the county's aging water and sanitation infrastructure.
