If you live in Irvine, California, you have to move elsewhere when you die. This master-planned city has no cemetery.
With more and more people reaching 55 and older, Irvine is having to deal with the afterlife. Planned as a city for people to "live, work, and play," as the demographics have changed, there is less need for soccer fields and more need for cemeteries. Planners are looking to El Toro for land. They are also considering a National Cemetery to bring in federal funds.
