Not much attention has been paid to how to make environments livable for older Americans. AARP aims to change that.
AARP publishes a 118-page guide to help AARP volunteers and other interested persons assess the "liveability" of their communities, that is, to assesswhether their community has the physical features, programs, andreadily accessible services that will enable older persons to remainindependent. Key subject areas covered in the survey include: publictransportation, driving, walking, housing, shopping, and municipalfeatures, services and leisure facilities.
