RTKL Creates plan for urban district surrounding Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
Named lead urban design and masterplanning firm, RTKL is working with The Los Angeles Arena Land Company LLC, owners and operators of the new STAPLES Center, to create a 33-acre vibrant, urban district on the southern edge of downtown along the Figueroa Corridor, adjacent to STAPLES Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center. The mix of uses planned for the district hotel, entertainment, retail, residential and office as well as a major public plaza will enrich and enliven downtown Los Angeles and complement other significant cultural, entertainment and residential projects underway. It is anticipated that the district would attract more than 6 million visitors annually.
