The guest organizer gives a preview of the exhibition, which will open in late summer.
In introducing the exhibition, Richard Burdett, guest organizer of the 10th International Architecture Exhibition for the Venice Biennale, which will open on September 6, asks "Is it possible to make new civic centers, new housing, which make people's lives hell? The answer is yes...Flip that around and ask, if that's the case, can you design squares, streets, buildings that can provide the possibility of a more integrated society?"
"Mr. Burdett, a professor of architecture and urbanism at the London School of Economics and an adviser to the mayor of London, has recently made the world his home. He is visiting the 18 cities to be showcased in his exhibition, including Shanghai, São Paulo, Beirut, Copenhagen, Bogotá, Johannesburg and Caracas."
