The director for Housing and Community Delevopment talks about everything from population growth to housing.
"Q. What is it going to take for California to reach the 225,000 housing units per year it needs to keep up with population growth, and remain there on a consistent basis?
Cities, frankly, need to say "yes" to housing more often. In addition, cities need creative incentives to help them do this and critical transportation funding provided by Proposition 42. They need to know that they will have the revenue required to provide the services and infrastructure generated by new housing. But fundamentally, each of our cities must plan to take care of its own population growth and jobs creation."
