"...Phoenix and surrounding communities have the opportunity to be at the vanguard of a trend throughout the country to plan transportation systems that maintain open spaces, catalyze community and economic development and help to resuscitate communities around transit hubs.

It is called 'transit-oriented development,' and it is an idea whose time has come. Transit-oriented development can promote a Phoenix of the future that is more vibrant and less congested."

"...Ultimately, transit-oriented development is about more than minimizing congestion or developing sensible transportation systems, as important as those goals are. It is about the development of a new American Dream for all Phoenix residents in the 21st century...""
