Develop Alternative Energy -- Oil is Running Out

Richard W. Hazlett, Chairman of the Geology Department at Pomona College, asks in a Los Angeles Times editorial: "How well-prepared is Los Angeles -- a city wholly a creature of the Petroleum age -- for energy transition that is apparently due within the lifetimees of most people reading these pages?" He suggests that the low-cost supply of oil upon which much of Southern California's industry is based will run out in our lifetimes. Hazlett calls for us to look seriously at transportation alternatives. And fast.
