Many citizens of this small Virginia town of slave descendants will have indoor plumbing for the first time in their lives. Advocacy for clean water and new privies led to securing funds for new subsidized housing. With this effort, additional funds were secured to assist the citizens in creating new economic opportunities and, hopefully, alieviate the poverty they have always known.
