Responding to a recent Op-Ed in which Steven E. Polzin questions the wisdom of investing in a redundant national passenger rail system, Hank Dittmar writes: "The very viability of the [United States'] transportation system is threatened... We need to view airports as "travel ports", where one can access air service for longer distance flights and high-speed commuter and intercity rail and bus service for shorter trips."
