Disney's California Misadventure

An ambitious new Disney theme park in Anaheim, California, draws criticism from residents.

A new Disney project called "Disney's California Adventure" (DCA)adjacent to the original Disneyland in Anahiem will add a theme park, shopping, dining and a luxury hotel to the area. Residents say Disney is not sympathetic to their concerns. However Orange County businesses anticipate benefits as they expect the DCA to bring in a large number of tourists.The City of Anaheim and Caltrans are pouring in money on roadimprovements and area beautification. But some Disney Imagineerssay the plan for the theme park is flawed. This article providesa historical perspective on Disney's involvement in Anaheim andsearches for true impact of the DCA.
