New 'Micropolitan' Cities

A new Census designation create 'micropolitan' areas for urbanized communities with 10,000 to 50,000 population.

"...Micro designations has surprised many people. The Office of Management and Budget quietly issued a June 6 bulletin revising definitions for metro areas and establishing definitions for micro and combined statistical areas, such as Paducah and Mayfield. The agency said a key goal is to better reflect changing commuter patterns and urban growth around small and medium-size cities."
