Sioux City, Iowa is celebrating the opening of a new pedestrian bridge that connects the city's Riverside Park to a golf course on the other side of the Big Sioux River in South Dakota.
As Nathan Price reports for KTIV, "The Big Sioux Pedestrian Bridge is now complete and there is a ribbon cutting ceremony planned for Tuesday May 12th in Riverside Park at 1:30 p.m." The $2.9 million project is five years in the making. "People have already started to make use of the bridge which connects Iowa and South Dakota, between the park and Two Rivers Golf Course." The bridge was formerly a railroad bridge and was later decommissioned.
