The Los Angeles city council approved $9.5 million for sidewalk repairs near venues that will host events during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and along key fan zones and routes.

According to a City News Service article, "Nearly $4 million will be allocated to fund the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative and the Los Angeles Conservation Corps to repair sidewalks for critical areas related to the 2028 Games. Another $650,000 will be used to cover staff costs, salaries and overtime for related work."

The Youth Sidewalk Repair Program, a partnership with the LA Conservation Corps, hires roughly 30 youth to work on sidewalk projects to gain experience and educational support in the construction trades.
