The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority’s (SFRTA) Tri-Rail commuter railroad, which serves Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, surpassed pre-pandemic ridership numbers for the first time last year, with 4.4 million riders, according to an article in Progressive Railroading.

“The commuter railroad consistently surpassed 4 million annual rides between 2012 and 2019, and in March 2024 marked its full ridership recovery from the pandemic with an average of 15,000 weekday rides and 8,000 weekend rides that month, SFRTA officials said in a press release.” The system expanded to downtown Miami in January 2024. In December 2024, the system improved its on-time performance rate to 93.6 percent.
