Avondale Estates, Georgia is leaning into its recognition as one of the best small-town beer scenes in the country.
"Avondale Estates established an open container district in the northern part of the city, where multiple breweries, pubs and restaurants are located," reports Zachary Hansen.
The DeKalb County, Georgia city was named among the USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards for the country’s best small-town beer scene. The Lost Druid and Wild Heaven were mentioned in the recognition. "Another brewery, Little Cottage Brewery, opened last month in the city," according to Hansen. "All three are within the new open container district."
Public drinking is allowed in more and more of the country, as documented in an article for Planetizen by Diana Ionescu in February 2021, but usually in specific, small parts of the city where open containers have been legalized.
