The Sightline Institute has produced an explainer video on the subject of housing affordability, most of which devoted to pinning the blame for the housing affordability crisis on exclusionary zoning that only allows single-samily homes in most neighborhoods. Single-family zoning, as is common in most of the United States, "puts up invisible walls" around neighborhoods, according to the video.

"If you can't buy in, you're walled out."
