Angie Schmitt has compiled a list of books that can expose children to "more expansive ideas of what streets and transportation are all about"—as compared to the usual car-centric fare that kids encounter from an early age.

Included on the source article is a crowdsourced list of "hidden gems, classics that hold up surprisingly well, and books that may not convey the message you’re after but can lead to an interesting talk with your kids."
