Decades in the making, Boise's 26-mile Greenbelt now spans the length of the city following completion of the last remaining one-mile segment.

After 50 years, Boise, Idaho finally has completed the city's Greenbelt, which now spans almost 26-miles, running primarily along the Boise River connecting many of the city's riverfront parks. According to KIVI-TV, the last 0.9 mile segment of the Greenbelt was completed last week and opened on September 16 to the public. Boise Mayor Dave Bieter commented that the finished Greenbelt contributes to the livability of the city, offering commuters an option to bike on a dedicated path instead of driving into the city. City officials say that each year 70,000 people use the Greenbelt as part of their commute.
