A planned 17-acre park on the Cuyahoga River has planners and designers excited about the possibilities for an area that some worry may wash away.

Irishtown Bend is a part of Cleveland that takes its name from the shanty town which once existed there. Now planners hope to make the area into a 17-acre park. Ohio City Inc. a local development group have partnered with the city's Port to move the project forward. Tom McNair executive director of Ohio City Inc told Steve Litt of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, "he's thrilled about the prospect of creating a park that could link the trails and leverage views of the river and the skyline to promote further economic development."
