Can art change a city? Some artists aspire to that. And their thoughtful approaches to place-making through art and creativity make their ideas worth exploring.
This week's Smart City radio show features a discussion about art, creativity and place-making. Andrew Carmichael is a sculptor, former gallery owner and is now directing the work of the Creative Lewisham Agency in London. Tad Savinar is a Portland, Oregon-based artist who regularly organizes public art competitions around the U.S. while sharply criticizing what passes for art in too many of these contests.Smart City is on 9 a.m. central on the WKNO Stations, 91.1 FM and again Tuesday at 9 a.m. on 88.9 FM. Or you can hear the show on WKNO's live Web streaming.
