Kowalsky's project uses Mapbox Studio to recreate the patterns and colors familiar from the work of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. The post includes insights into the technical details of Kowalsky's process as well as samples of the work in cities where the style is most succesful.
For more examples of this kind of work, Kowalsky credits her inspiration to maps from the Cartographic Perspectives journal and pop art maps created by geography students at Penn State.
