"The raw materials don't exactly inspire confidence behind the wheel: 30,000 tons of flakes, smaller than paper-punch dots, made of discarded milk, bleach and detergent containers, and Styrofoam products as ethereal as packing peanuts...the gray composite polymer is more durable than concrete, lighter than steel and, unlike both, virtually impervious to time and the elements."
