"A Security Design Coalition to urge attractiveness in protection of government buildings has been formed by a constellation of groups including the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Architects and American Society of Landscape Architects. The idea is that such common-sense steps as substituting 'hardened' lampposts or benches for jersey barriers, or slightly sunken plazas to thwart truck attacks, can preserve aesthetics and create quality public spaces, even in a high security era. "
