On June 28th, at the awards ceremony of the AIA Convention 2014, the urban stage of Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago dazzled the glorious legacy of Julia Morgan, FAIA. A short video of her creations beamed to an overflowing crowd of attendees at McCormick Place. Beverly Willis, FAIA, Founder and Founding Chair of the Beverly Willis Architectural Foundation presented a keynote at the occasion of the AIA Gold Medal conferral.

Ellen B North, Morgan’s grandniece walked with pride to receive Julia Morgan’s posthumous award as the first woman to receive the AIA Gold Medal.
