Every year for more than 45 years, Record has chosen the best houses around the world and featured them as Record Houses. And when it comes to the best, 2002 was as good a year as any, with houses from the West Coast to Paris: "Vancouver House Patkau Architects Inc. -- A client's offhand request—that the architects add a lap pool to the design for a new house—turns into a defining moment for this Vancouver residence. The lap pool ended up cantilevered above the entrance to the house, where it casts shimmering reflections throughout the space."
