"With population projected to soar to more than 20 million by 2020, water demands are predicted to grow nearly 30 percent -- to 9.3 billion gallons a day. Water managers are pushing plans for expensive new water sources such as desalted seawater or treated river water. At the same time, pure groundwater is dwindling. Shortage threatens everything from Florida's delicate water-dependent environment to the state's economy." The article focuses on areas where water is currently wasted, and waste reduction efforts.
