"Daniel R. Patterson, an ecologist with the Center for Biological Diversity [said] 'We question the need for 12 golf courses when the Coachella Valley already has more than 100.'" Developer Richard R. Oliphant's answer: "Part of the attraction for the World Trade Center University to come here was golf, for the visiting professors," he said. "And the technology center that'll need a golf course. Then we have the high-end country club; there will be seven golf courses there. It's important."
